Alfredo Valmaña

My name is alfredo a. Vamana. I born in la Havana, Cuba on February 18th, 1988.
My early inclination for art led me to study in the academy of fine arts san Alejandro in Havana, Cuba. At the end in 2008, I continue studying other branches of art like the restoration of paintings.

At the end of 2016, I emigrated to the united states to live and concentrate on my paintings until today.

Painting is everything for me, the concentration of all my forces, desires and feelings. It went from being a moment of ecstasy to become a necessity.

My art is based on oil paintings on canvas, which tries to capture the fugacity of the moment. Through a very personal technique, I achieve scenes of everyday life, common things that seem not to matter, but are there, and they’re part of our world.
Using the photographic resource, I take from this the movements that the low-speed opturation gives, and I use the focus and unfocus effect to my advantage.

The human eye only focuses one point at a time; I make this more easy in my art; I manipulate and decide where I want to direct the eyes of the viewer. The object in focus and its environment is the one that speaks us about a message for the public, a message that evokes recognition, regression, reflection, self-observation and critical judgment in everything in life, especially on those things that we do not see.
