In my pictures I have used found photographs of people in certain situationsor I photograph the people myself. I then translate these frozen moments into oil painting. With blurring resulting from broad brushstrokes and sharp lines set against them, these works are not photorealistic. I create new realities, interpreted by me and thereby transformed realities. People depersonalised, convey an inner dialogue with themselves or a counterpart opposite.
Through the concentration on the moment, the pause at a tension-filled balance point, I want to create a state of suspension for the viewer that provokes questions about the situation depicted. Images, fleeting and mundane appear as if from a film still. Through their atmosphere, in one capturing this one particular movement, they try to penetrate the essence of this moment.
